A DAY AT INFRATEST: BETWEEN SUNSHINE, TALKS AND A GOOD MOOD

On Thursday, 6 June 2024, the Performance DAY 2024 took place: an event organized by infraTest Prüftechnik in cooperation with Prof. Dr. Kurt Schellenberg, from the Institute for Materials Testing IFM Rottweil, and Dr. Stefan Böhm, TU Darmstadt.

We believe that we had put together an interesting program for the participants, not so much from the point of view of the building material but from the point of view of a testing machine. Actio = Reactio was the motto of the day. Matthias Martus, Managing Director of Infratest Prüftechnik, explained that everything that is done to asphalt as a building material – squeezing, crushing, twisting, fatiguing and breaking – is also done to the testing machine. A testing machine is not a necessary evil, it should rather help to gather more and more knowledge. He went on to explain that it is no longer just a matter of determining the physical properties of building materials, but rather of addressing the pressing issues of our time with knowledge and investigating the practical relevance of sustainable construction methods.

Over the course of the morning, various topics were highlighted by different speakers. Ersun Görener kicked things off with an overview of the current regulations. Konstantin Atanasov and Jörg Fröhlich spoke about the control engineering and mechanical challenges in the design of dynamic systems. The great importance of the accuracy and precision of the results delivered by the machines was highlighted. Philipp Meyer presented the various drive systems and Thomas Brendel gave an introduction to the definition and use of artificial intelligence – a controversial and necessary topic in the debate about the future. This block of presentations was rounded off by our other Managing Director, Mr. Stefan Dräger, who gave an outlook on future projects that have already been implemented abroad.

infraTest then offered the participants of Performance Day 2024 an overview of its dynamic machines. The product range has now grown significantly. 10, 20, 30 and 50 KN machines were presented as a complete series for all requirements. We were also proud to present our first own refrigeration cabinet for low-temperature applications. In this context, it was a pleasure for us to pay tribute to Dr. Jörg Eulitz, who has supported us over many years in the continuous development of our cooling tests. Many thanks Jörg.

And because the spirit is not enough, infraTest took care of the physical well-being with a buffet of regional food and drinks. As always, we were also lucky with the weather, a smiling sun in turn ensured that the relaxed atmosphere of conversation was promoted. The feedback we received was very valuable for us, as we rely on the experience of our customers when developing test equipment.

As a small surprise, it was a great pleasure for the entire infraTest team to congratulate Prof. Dr. Kurt Schellenberg on his 90th birthday. Dr. Stefan Böhm found the right words in his very nice eulogy and thus gave our event a worthy and beautiful conclusion. Once again, happy birthday Professor Dr. Schellenberg!

infraTest Prüftechnik would like to thank all participants of the Performance Day 2024. The exchange and discussions that took place enabled valuable progress to be made on many projects.

See you next time!

Turnier der Meister : infraTest at the gymnastics gala in Cottbus

InfraTest at the gymnastics gala in Cottbus!

The ” Turnier der Meister” took place in Cottbus from 23 to 26 February: A high-calibre gymnastics gala.
Over the three days of the event, there was a multitude of top athletic performances to admire on the various apparatus and on the floor.
Gymnasts from over 80 nations demonstrated their outstanding skills in front of a large audience.
When Mr Eberhardt Gienger, former member of the German Bundestag, asked us for support for this event, we didn’t hesitate for long.

What does a gymnastics gala ” Turnier der Meister” have to do with InfraTest?

In a time of “marginalisation”, it is always nice to see how sport unites. But not only sport connects. As a manufacturer of testing equipment for road construction, we also help to bring people closer together across borders on a daily basis.
We also try to do our best every day, but we also have to train every day to achieve this. And sometimes, as with gymnastics, we don’t do it so well, but this is always an incentive to do a little better every day.
In addition, we are present in all participating countries with testing equipment for the infrastructure. This makes us particularly proud and represents a further connection.
We are already looking forward to the Gala 2025 and wish all athletes successful competitions until then.
